This nutrient-packed smoothie is full of brain protective compounds. Research has shown that the medium chain fatty acids in coconuts may ameliorate the effects of Alzheimer’s disease and the antioxidants in the berries and deeply coloured beetroot protect the brain from damaging inflammation.
L-theanine in green tea helps support the body through stress and both protein powder and almonds have high levels of the amino acid tryptophan, which is converted to the sleep and relaxation chemical, serotonin.
Finally, the serotonin-rich banana will also help calm whilst chia seeds contain omega 3, well known for its brain boosting properties. Enjoy!
2 tablespoons grated Coconut
Handful mixed Berries
2 tablespoons chia seeds (omega 3)
1 scoop protein powder
½ beetroot, cooked and cooled
1 mug cooled green tea
Small handful almonds
250 ml coconut water
Place all the ingredients in a blender and blitz until smooth. Drink immediately.
