Andrea Carroll Langan
BSc, MSc, RNutr

I’m a Registered Nutritionist in Public Health with a diverse and evolving career spanning nutrition, public health, education, and business strategy. I founded Health Embrace in 2013 to provide consultancy, strategy development, and health education programmes that make evidence-based nutrition feel practical, achievable, and accessible to real lives and communities.

While Health Embrace started with me leading the work, I have worked with talented graduates, interns and volunteers over time, and I continue to mentor and support 3rd year nutrition students and new nutrition professionals each year.

My career journey

My career began in what now feels like a different world. After completing a degree in Psychology, I worked in the Telecoms and IT sectors, helping to bridge technical and commercial teams. That experience honed my skills in business development, strategy, communication, and collaboration, skills that now shape how I lead and deliver public health nutrition initiatives. Whilst I thrived in this field, enjoyed understanding emerging technologies, and progressed to a Director level, I also often volunteered outside of work. It was during this time that I began to see how our lifestyle and environment can impact our well-being. When my mum was diagnosed with cancer, it changed my perspective and set me on a path to retrain in nutrition so I could help others live healthier, more balanced lives.

During my MSc in Personalised Nutrition, I explored clinical applications of sports nutrition through working with elite athletes in high-performance environments. I completed my final research project in personalised nutrition for recovery and then worked on practical case studies with the first team at Norwich City Football Club. Since then, over the last 13 years I’ve led and delivered initiatives covering youth sport, cancer prevention, education, and public health, all designed to empower understanding of how food fuels energy, focus, and mood. I’ve developed and embedded nutrition into PE and well-being strategies, created and led performance nutrition programmes for young athletes, and facilitated retreats and workplace wellbeing projects. Supporting youth through sport has been my core passion, which is now developing into a growing interest in nutrition for mental health.

My professional experience spans public health, education, and community settings. I recently worked as the nutrition expert for Norfolk Public Health, embedded within the county’s strategic prevention team, where I helped shape policy and led/co-authored the All-Age Healthy Weight and Nutrition Health Needs Assessment, guiding the next phase of Norfolk’s nutrition strategy. I’ve also spent five years lecturing in Sports Nutrition, Health Sciences, and Mental Health at City College Norwich. I currently hold a part-time role with Norfolk’s Big C Cancer Charity, supporting residents affected by cancer and developing new preventative health programmes.

My mission

My goal is always to create sustainable, meaningful change through inclusive, evidence-based nutrition, as well as to provide support for those who are navigating food choices on a tight budget or who are facing health inequalities.
